| | Sounds Like | Bounce-Single Review Hot Press November 2005
"..the title track builds around some particularly effective guitar work, culminating in an emotionally charged indie epic, while Weeds (Beauty's A Beast) shows a more experimental edge.
One to watch for next year. "
-Phil Udell
New Positivity- Single Review Hot Press May 2005
" This is fine, fine stuff..this is more than a little off the wall, yet the band manage to wrap up the song in an accessible package. Not just one excellent track but three, which certainly marks their card for further investigation.
-Phil Udell
Walking to Isaville- Single Review Hot Press July 2004
"A lilting, piano-led number that conjures the sense of pilgrimage, nostalgia and the rich pastoral landscape with which they are surrounded in. Mature songwriting with lovely melodies and arrangements - Isaville seems like a safe, warm and happy place to be. A band to watch".
-Danielle Brigham.

"Raw and eclectic, rich in melody and positively glowing with a dark skull-pounding energy, Veneer are what Franz Ferdinand might sound like if they had Bertolt Brecht for a frontman and miniature clones of Tom Waits for a rhythm section."
Veneer live Hot Press Live Review
"Veneer showed no such lack of bloodletting. Indeed, at times the Limerick lot seemed to venture deeper into the heart of darkness than any sane band would want to go. Frontman Ger Lane is the kind of character more likely to be found stalking superstars than socialising with them, and the music is a taut, neurotic tryst between Matt Johnston and The Tindersticks... when they did crank it up it sounded like the depths of hell were opening to reveal the Velvets in all their White Light/White Heat"
-Peter Murphy.

| About Veneer |
Veneer is the band name that singer / songwriter Ger Lane has presented
his songs under since the mid-nineties. He has been fortunate to have worked
with many of the best Limerick musicians under various line ups over the years.
EPs: Popular One 1996; Walking To Isaville 2004;
New Positivity 2005; Bounce 2005;
A debut album has been parked temporarily due to that famous clash between ‘realism’ and it’s most irritating enemy ‘idealism’!
Ger is currently taking some time out from Veneerland to consider some of
the issues at hand but would like to thank all who have given so much support and assistance to both himself and fellow band members until now.
Please check www.myspace.com/gerlanemusic for current movements. Thank you!
